This has been the largest part of our business. Together with our suppliers, we supply raw materials for mostly all paint and coating manufacturers in Scandinavia. Today these raw materials are mostly used in indoor and outdoor water-based paints which have largely taken over the more conventional alkyd paints, also called the solvent-based. It is important to us to introduce the environmentally friendly products that do not cause pollution of any kind. These binders include acrylic dispersions, alkyd emulsions and PU dispersions as well as combinations there of. Ferronor also delivers pigments, color paste, additives and biocides to the paint industry.

This has been a growing market for Ferronor leading to increase in sales during the recent years. Wax Products, color pigments, color paste, biocides and other additives are our strengths. Farming the north Atlantic salmon became increasingly popular in the 1970s, when people began to raise fish in cages in the sea. Ever since, the growth of algae, shells, barnacles, etc. on the cages has been a big problem for the aquaculture companies. Ferronor is specialized in supplying biocides such as copper oxide from American Chemet in combination with Copper omadine from Lonza and wax binder, which gives a good antifouling effect. With the use of a well-formulated recipe, the cages can stay in the sea from 8-10 months before they need to be sent ashore and get cleaned. We firmly believe that our co-biocide Copper omadine AQ 35% from Lonza increases the antifouling effect, especially against the soft fouling such as algae and hydroids. The Biocide, Copper omadine is now approved by the EU`s new biocide directive to be used in aquaculture.
Coloring of concrete has become more and more popular in Norway. Concrete elements, walls and paving stones are some of the areas which will get a more spectacular look with coloring. Ferronor delivers pigments in powder and slurry form. Powder pigments are delivered as compact, granular and normal powder form. Liquid slurry is a mixture of water, powder pigment and dispersant. Ferronor has supplied the concrete industry in Norway since 1995. Colored asphalt, especially for biking lanes are more common in Norway now than in the past. We deliver colors in the form of Ventraco`s color pellets and Bayferrox pigment powder in PE bags. We supply black, red, yellow, brown, green and blue to the concrete and asphalt industry.

From 2016 we have started aiming on the sale of various types of plastic raw materials in Europe. Ferronor has already supplied the rubber industry with binders for many years. From late 80`s we have also supplied the market with unsaturated polyester, mainly to boat and tank construction as well as Fishfarming cage. In the future we will focus on supplying the Scandinavian plastic market with new raw materials such as PP, LDPE, and HDPE mainly for pipe systems.
